The answer to that question might be learning how to count. There is more federal funding and assistance programs for the homeless than you might imagine. But for communities to receive their share, they must count their homeless population. And that is no easy task.
To tackle this problem, Open Doors’ former board member, Jake Maguire, created a break-through solution that several cities have already used to completely eliminate homelessness.
Listen to this episode of NPR’s Planet Money to hear Jake explain how his real-time database is helping cities overcome one of their biggest challenges to getting people off the streets: counting the homeless.
