Partner Perspective: Ambra Horton, Forest Creek

Ambra Horton (pictured here, right) is the Community Manager at Forest Creek, one of the properties we partner with to provide affordable housing options for the clients we serve. Our program allows property managers like Ambra to enjoy valuable benefits such as rent guarantees, social support for program residents, Fair Housing guidance, and a referral app that enables them to fill vacancies fast.

Ambra cares deeply about the residents of Forest Creek and she loves that Open Doors does, too. She says, “Open Doors is actually helping people and they have a wonderful staff that truly cares. Their hands-on approach and consistent communication make it so easy to work with them. We are definitely on the same page.”

Over the past two years that she has been at Forest Creek, Ambra has become keenly aware of the problem that low-income families and individuals face when it comes to housing. “The lack of affordable housing is a real problem. People are working but wages are staying the same and rents keep going up. There’s just no way they can afford it so they end up homeless. We need more programs like Open Doors.”

The Open Doors system is a vital bridge to help people find their way back from a period of homelessness. And Ambra loves witnessing these success stories first-hand. “Just the other day, one of my former residents came by,” says Ambra. “She is a single mom with her two daughters and they had been homeless. Now they’re back on their feet, they have a car, the girls are in school, and they want to volunteer.”

“My residents are thriving and none of this would be possible without Open Doors.”
